The streaming giant Netflix and the YouTube video platform will launch a new service this summer that lets users save time, and is expected to be a hit with millennials.
In a blog post today, Netflix said it’s adding “saves time” to its content lineup to help users save money on video.
The service, which will debut this summer in the US and Canada, will offer a number of features including offline storage, offline playback and offline editing.
It also includes a “free, fast, and simple” video editing service.
“With Saves Time, we’re introducing a new way to save money,” Netflix chief content officer Eddy Cue said in the post.
“We’re not only delivering new content to the people who pay for it, we are also bringing the convenience and simplicity of a Netflix account to those who don’t.
And we’re adding a new feature that lets you edit videos offline, so you can make sure they stay up-to-date with your friends and family.
We are excited to offer this new feature to Netflix subscribers as well.””
Saves Time” will cost $4.99 a month, or $9.99 for a year.
It will work with both Netflix originals and movies.
It’s not yet known how many users will sign up for the service.
